He provides valuable guidance to companies seeking to safeguard and leverage their innovations, with a focus on patents and industrial designs. With his experience serving clients across a range of industries, he is equipped to handle complex patent applications. His areas of expertise include artificial intelligence, blockchain security, payment processing, quantum computing, machine vision, big data, battery systems, electric vehicles, remote sensing, spacecraft propulsion, and aircraft structures. He also works with companies that merge design, art and function to create unique products that are protected by design and utility registrations. Wilfred is dedicated to helping clients align their IP strategies with their business goals. He provides actionable insights, patentability opinions, freedom-to-operate opinions, and conducts IP due diligence on transactions. Before joining Marks & Clerk, Wilfred honed his engineering skills in the Canadian aerospace industry and served as a director of the Canadian Space Commerce Association. He also co-founded a healthcare technology start-up in the U.S. and is a co-inventor on patents related to interactive AI bots.
