Seneca Polytechnic is a public college in the Greater Toronto Area. It offers full-time and part-time programs in the applied arts and technology areas at the baccalaureate, diploma, certificate, and graduate levels.
Building on Seneca’s academic strength in the areas of software development and data sciences, the Centre for Innovation in Artificial Intelligence Technology (CIAIT) was established in 2021. CIAIT supports local, small- and medium-sized companies develop and adopt artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their business. AI adoption remains sector agnostic and in the last year CIAIT has worked with partners in sectors such as infrastructure management, online retail and financial technology. The main techniques being used include: data and predictive analytics, machine learning and natural language processing. Since CIAIT has funding readily available, an increasing number of partners are returning to do more in-depth projects. Some of the projects faculty and students have worked on this year include: developing a system to recommend news articles, predictive analysis for debt recovery and creating a machine learning program to predict house prices.
Our vision for 2023-24 is to collaborate with more partners, non-profits, governments and other academic institutions to advance Ontario’s position as a leader in AI.
