Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC)

Tamara Zimmerman is Assistant Vice President, Innovation at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). In this role, Tamara leads BDC’s organization-wide innovation program, which is built on the principles of strategic idea crowdsourcing and open innovation with the startup ecosystem. At BDC, innovation is treated as a business discipline with a rigorous management of the innovation process from ideation and concept design, to experimentation, to implementation. Tamara and her team also work to reinforce a strong culture of innovation across the organization.

Tamara joined BDC in March 2016, after more than 15 years of management consulting experience at Accenture, where she helped clients across industries with their business transformation initiatives.  She sits on the board of directors of Equitas – International Centre for Human Rights Education and holds a Master of Science in Development Management from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McGill University.
